Anshul Kheterpal of Shasta County: The San Diego State University Aztecs

Many San Diego State University students spend their years in college following the sports teams of the school—the Aztecs.  And many alumni keep their ties to their alma mater going with continued loyalty to the sports teams.  Anshul Kheterpal of Shasta County is an alumnus of SDSU who enjoys following the Aztecs and is still a loyal fan years after leaving campus.

Sports fans from SDSU have a wide range of sports to indulge in when following the Aztecs.  Aztec teams include men’s baseball, football, basketball, tennis, golf and soccer.  For women, the Aztec roster includes water polo, volleyball, rowing, basketball, softball, track and field, tennis, lacrosse, cross country, swimming and diving, soccer, and golf.

Aztec fans can purchase tickets for both single games or the entire season for the following sporting events:  football, baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and softball.  Single tickets for women’s home volleyball games are also available during the regular season at the door of each event.

While all of the Aztec sports have a solid following, football reigns supreme with devout fans throughout the country cheering on the team.  The Aztecs are part of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and the West Division of the Mountain West Conference (MW) and compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team has won three national championships within the small college division and twenty-one conference championships. Some of the most notable Aztec Alumni include Marshall Faulk, Vince Warren, Kirk Morrison, Ronnie Hillman, Dennis Shaw and Fred Dryer. Coaches who worked with the Aztecs football program and went on to coach in the NFL include John Madden, Joe Gibbs, Tom Cable, Ted Tollner, Don Coryell and Herman Edwards.

Anshul Kheterpal is a graduate of SDSU and currently lives in Shasta County.  He enjoys following the Aztec teams as well as the San Diego Charges and the San Diego Padres.

Anshul Kheterpal of Shasta County: The Benefits of Giving to Charity

Giving to charity not only benefits those in need, it also has the capacity to create positive effects for those who are giving. Anshul Kheterpal of Shasta County regularly gives to charities in his community and knows firsthand the benefits of generosity.

Share Your Passions And Motivate Others

Sharing your passions with friends and family and talking about the positive benefits of the organizations you choose to support is a great motivating factor for those who may not otherwise donate.  When you can articulate how much your contributions help the causes that you care about, you can most likely convince others that they can easily help as well.

Everything Helps

Donations don’t have to be huge to make an impact.  Even if you can only spare a small amount, your money can still go a long way in helping others.

Your Children Learn By Example

Those with children who make giving to charity a priority are promoting the spirit of generosity to their kids. When you show your children that helping others is a priority and that giving to those in need is important to your family, they will be more likely to follow suit and make similar choices as they grow older or even while they are still kids.

You’ll Feel Better

Studies have shown that those who give feel better about themselves—regardless of the amount. One study conducted by the National Institutes of Health showed that participants who engaged in giving a portion of the $100 they were provided experienced elevated pleasure centers in their brains.

Anshul Kheterpal of Shasta County: Getting Started in Bodybuilding

Transforming your body through bodybuilding is an attainable goal that can be achieved by anyone with a solid plan and strong focus, but beginning the journey can be an overwhelming experience. Anshul Kheterpal works in business development in Shasta County and counts bodybuilding among his many diverse interests.  These tips can help those just getting started with the sport.

Begin With Your Doctor

Before embarking on any rigorous physical fitness regimen, having a complete physical is a wise idea.  Knowing where you stand physically can vastly improve your efforts while also providing benchmarks such as cholesterol and blood pressure that you can use to help track your progress. In addition to improving overall appearance, bodybuilding can also contribute to general health by helping with the inner workings of your body.

Get On Board With a Healthy Diet

What goes into your body is just as important as the works outs you put your body through. Pairing a healthy diet with your workouts is essential in achieving the best results possible.  Start by removing any tempting junk food from your home and aim to make healthy, whole foods more prominent in your diet.

Get Geared Up

As with any sport, bodybuilding requires some basic gear.  Start out by getting suited up with these essentials—you’ll need comfortable clothes to workout in, running shoes, a heart rate monitor, water bottle and towel, a jump rope, kettlebells or dumbbells and a resistance band. Quality items are well worth the money as you are investing in yourself.
